Sustainable Everyday Life Academy
The Sustainable Everyday Life Academy is a two-module programme that teaches you to observe your day as it really is and to design small, lasting behaviour changes. The goal is not a perfect routine, but habits that fit your real life and survive disruption.
Beginner · 2 modules · 8 lessons · about 2 hours
Who is this for?
- People who have started new habits many times, dropped them within weeks, and wonder why
- People with a busy schedule looking for small, realistic steps rather than sweeping life changes
- Anyone who wants to know their own day better and use their energy more deliberately
- Anyone who wants to learn to carry on after a lapse instead of giving everything up
Talk to a professional first
- If you are coping with depression, an anxiety disorder or burnout, this programme is not sufficient on its own; consulting a mental health professional first is recommended.
- If a sleep disorder, chronic fatigue or a similar health condition significantly affects your daily life, it is wiser to speak to a doctor before making behavioural adjustments.
What you will gain
- You can map one of your days from real observation rather than assumptions
- You can tell your fixed and flexible responsibilities apart and see where your room to move is
- You can notice how your energy and attention shift through the day and place tasks accordingly
- You can shrink a new behaviour to under two minutes and link it to an existing daily event
- You can define separate normal-day and busy-day versions to make a habit flexible
- You can return after a lapse with one small step, without judging yourself
The programme's approach
This programme is built on two simple ideas. First: before you change a day, you have to know it. Most habit attempts fail because they are planned around an imaginary day rather than the real one. Second: behaviour change is not a contest of willpower but a matter of design. When a behaviour is small enough, anchored to the right moment and equipped with a fallback version for busy days, its odds of lasting rise considerably.
Nowhere in this programme will you find a rigid daily plan, an hour-by-hour schedule or a one-size-fits-all prescription. Instead, you learn observation and design tools to apply to your own day. Results vary from person to person; what you learn here is a starting point.
How the modules unfold
The first module, Observing Everyday Life, teaches you to take an honest photograph of your day: mapping a real day, fixed and flexible responsibilities, energy and attention periods, and the weekly review. The second module, Small and Sustainable Behaviour Design, shows you how to build new behaviours on top of those observations: making a behaviour smaller, linking it to an existing event, preparing normal-day and busy-day versions, and returning after a lapse.
The lessons are written to be followed in sequence, and each one ends with a small practice task you can do today. At the end of the programme, the programme assessment lets you check what you have learned.
How to get the most out of it
Rather than reading the lessons back to back, actually try each practice task before moving on. For the observation module, pick an ordinary week; a holiday or an unusually hectic week will not show you the true shape of your days. You need no special tools for note-taking; paper, phone notes or any method you are used to is enough. To learn more about our teaching approach, see the Academy methodology page.
Frequently asked questions
Is this programme a form of therapy or personal coaching?
No. It is learning content about daily routines and habit design; it is not therapy, psychological treatment or personal consultancy. If you are seeking support for your mental health, please consult a professional.
Do I get a certificate when I finish?
No. The Academy issues no certificates; the assessment at the end is only for checking your own learning.
Do I have to follow the lessons in order?
Following the sequence is recommended because the lessons build on each other, but every lesson can also be read on its own.
