Privacy and Data Approach

In brief

Visit measurement (Google Analytics 4) on this site runs only if you allow it, which is why you are asked on your first visit. If you do not allow it, the measurement code is not loaded, no measurement cookie is written and no measurement request is sent to Google Analytics. There are no advertising, remarketing or profiling tags; the site contains no embedded third-party content, no external web fonts and no content delivery network. The server's technical logs (below) are created on every visit. You can change your choice at any time from the Privacy choices button at the bottom of every page.

Even without your permission you can use all content and all tools; no function depends on measurement.

Who is responsible

Data controller: Sema Vatansever — the natural person who operates this website and determines the purposes and means of processing personal data. The site belongs to a natural person, not to a legal entity; this page fulfils the duty to inform under Article 10 of Turkish Law No. 6698 on the Protection of Personal Data.

The principle of minimal data

This site exists to be useful to you, not to identify you. Reading the content and using the tools requires no membership, no account and no personal details. Data we never collect cannot be lost, leaked or misused; so our first question is always “do we have to collect this?” and the answer is usually no.

In measurement terms this principle means: measurement is optional, off by default, and its scope is deliberately kept narrow.

Your tool data stays in your browser

The height, weight, age and similar values you enter into the calculators are not sent to our servers; the calculation happens on your device, inside your browser. If a tool remembers your results for a later visit, that information is held only in your browser's local storage. We cannot reach it; you can delete it at any time by clearing this site's data in your browser. Details of how the tools work are on the Tool Methodology page.

The same holds for your quiz answers, favourites and learning history. The on-site search box never writes your search term into the address bar, so your query does not leak through the page address either. If you have allowed measurement, the address of the page you visit is sent — not the records themselves.

Cookies and visit measurement

If you allow it, first-party measurement cookies are used for Google Analytics 4: _ga and _ga_40M9PB1PWX. Their lifetime is 90 days — not a legal limit but our own voluntary data minimisation; the period is not restarted on every visit. If you do not allow it, these cookies are not written and no measurement request is sent to Google Analytics; the default state is refusal. Measurement ID: G-40M9PB1PWX.

This is not a checkbox but a real gate: the measurement code is loaded only after permission. We do not use Google's “consent denied” (Consent Mode denied) pattern; in that mode a cookieless signal still reaches Google. Ad personalisation and Google signals are disabled in code, and advertising storage consent is never granted at any stage.

What is counted if you allow it? Page views; first visit and session start; engagement time; reaching roughly 90 per cent of the page; and outbound link clicks. On this site outbound links point to two domains (Google's measurement opt-out page and the Turkish Personal Data Protection Authority), across five links in total. There are no downloadable files, no embedded video and no site search written into the address, so file-download, video and site-search events never occur.

We do not say “anonymous”. Measurement gives your browser a random identifier and your visits are joined under it — technically that is not anonymity but pseudonymity. The accurate sentence is: your identity is never asked for, this identifier is not matched with other sources, and ad personalisation and Google signals are disabled in code.

Where does your choice live? Your decision, its date, its expiry date and the consent scope version are kept for 12 months in this browser in a local record that is not a cookie (technical record name: sv_tercihler). Acceptance and refusal are kept for the same period. Wording, design or explanatory updates do not reset your choice; you are asked again only if the measurement scope expands substantially (a new provider, a new data category, a new recipient, a new purpose, an advertising link, Google signals, user ID, cross-site tracking, or a significant extension of retention). Current consent scope version: analytics-scope-01.

When a page of this site is opened embedded inside another page as a frame (iframe), the consent banner is not shown, the preference panel is not set up and — even if you allowed it before — measurement never starts.

Server access and security logs

When the site is accessed, standard technical information such as the IP address, access time, the page requested, browser or device information and the server response code may be processed in the hosting infrastructure in order to deliver the website and keep it secure. These records are not used for advertising or marketing, no behavioural user profile is built from them, and the site owner does not feed them into a separate visit-measurement system.

No aggregated visit counting is performed on the server logs. If such counting is ever started, a written legitimate-interest balancing test will be prepared first and this text will be updated.

Openly not yet verified: the hosting provider's full legal name, the actual retention period of the server logs and the country or countries in which those logs are processed have not yet been verified by us. Until those three facts are verified this section is not final; uncertain information is not written down by guesswork and will be added here once confirmed.

Purposes and legal bases

Which processing rests on which basis:

Refusing measurement restricts no function of the site; consent is not a condition of access.

Cross-border transfer (Article 9)

If you allow measurement, your visit data is transferred to Google and may be processed outside Türkiye on Google's infrastructure. The legal basis for this transfer is your explicit consent.

We state this openly: the transfer is regular in nature, and the Law requires an additional appropriate safeguard for regular transfers (for example the Authority's standard contract); no such contract has been established with Google. While this gap persists, the site owner has chosen to operate measurement on the basis of explicit consent. For that reason this text does not claim full legal compliance. If you do not allow it, no transfer takes place at all.

For the hosting provider processing the server access logs and for its sub-processors, verification of recipient, role, country and mechanism is still in progress; nothing is written here before it is verified.

Retention periods

• Measurement cookies (_ga, _ga_40M9PB1PWX): 90 days — voluntary data minimisation; the period is not extended on each visit.
• User and event data on Google Analytics servers: 2 months — GA4's default setting, which has not been increased.
• Consent record (sv_tercihler): 12 months; the same period for acceptance and refusal.
• Personal records in your browser (theme, favourites, quizzes, tool results): until you delete them; we hold no copy.
• Server access and security logs: the hosting provider sets the period; the actual duration has not yet been verified by us.
• Correspondence about data protection requests: for the periods set by the applicable legislation and possible disputes.

Your rights and how to complain

Under Article 11 of Law No. 6698 you have the right to: learn whether your personal data is processed; request information if it has been; learn the purpose of processing and whether the data is used in accordance with it; know the third parties to whom it is transferred in Türkiye or abroad; request correction if it is incomplete or inaccurate; request erasure or destruction where the legal conditions are met; request that correction and erasure be notified to the parties the data was transferred to; object to a result against you produced solely by automated analysis; and claim compensation for damage.

How to apply: writing to info@semavatansever.com is enough; your requests are answered within 30 days at the latest (Article 13). Withdrawing measurement permission needs no application: one click on the Privacy choices button at the bottom of the page is enough; when you withdraw it, the measurement cookies are deleted and no new measurement request is sent to Google Analytics.

Right to complain: if you are not satisfied with the answer or receive none in time, you may lodge a complaint with the Turkish Personal Data Protection Board (kvkk.gov.tr). If you visit from the European Economic Area you may also contact your own national data protection authority.

How the privacy choices work

On your first visit you are offered three equal options: Allow measurement · Continue without measurement · Review settings. The three buttons have the same size, the same colour and the same type size; none is highlighted, no box is pre-ticked and there is no close (X) button. The default state is refusal.

You can change your decision from the Privacy choices button at the bottom of every page. In the settings panel the measurement category is not pre-ticked; the preference record itself is shown as a locked information card, because without that record your decision cannot be remembered.

If your browser blocks local storage, your choice cannot be recorded in a demonstrable way, so measurement is not started at all and the banner says why. Ways to turn measurement off, easiest first: (1) the Privacy choices button at the bottom of the page, (2) clearing this site's data in your browser, (3) Google's site-wide opt-out add-on.
